IMSC attended 2012 AIL Summit

IMSC staffs attended the annual Annenberg Innovation Lab (AIL) Summit on March 30th. AIL, led by Professor Jonathan Taplin, is a research lab of Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, focusing on media, culture and society in association with art, design, science and engineering, and have been in partnership with IMSC since 2011.

During Rethinking Urban Settings Session, speakers gave how communication technology can contribute in connecting neighbors and community effectively. IMSC Director Cyrus Shahabi presented an IMSC project, Real-time Video Traffic Analytics, a traffic measurement system that uses video analytics. This project is a collorative project with AIL sponsored by Intel. Presentation was followed by demo-session, and a number of scholars and corporate representatives showed high interest on the project, which provides for new traffic video analytics in a fatser and more economical way, by using Intel Viewmont co-processor.
