Steve Kowalski
Dr. Kowalski is a System Architect at Northrop Grumman Information
Systems. He has been with Northrop Grumman his entire 25-year career
except for a 5-year stint in the commercial software sector. He began
his career at Northrop in 1984 as an IR&D Principle Investigator for
Robotic/Machine Vision applications and has since expanded his interests
into the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural
Language Processing, Image Processing, Geographic Information Systems,
Satellite Command & Control, Mission Data Processing, Mission
Management, and Information Management. His primary area of expertise
is in Software and System Architecture as applied to Intelligence,
Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems.
Dr. Kowalski received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from
Carnegie Mellon University with an emphasis on Robotics, Sensors, and
Control Systems. He received an MS and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering
from the University of Southern California. His graduate studies were
supported by a Northrop Grumman Fellowship Award. He has taught
computer science courses at California State University at Fullerton and
served on the Extended Education Advisory Board at that institution.
Dr. Kowalski is a senior member of AIAA and serves on the Software
Systems Technical Committee. He is also a member of IEEE.
