Yima-1: The First Phase

The first phase of our Real-Time File Server, Yima, was a working version of a real-time streaming server which was compatible with and adhered to the QuickTime server standard by Apple Computer. The multi-node, scalable architecture is based on commodity personal computer hardware components.  The storage nodes are interconnected via a high-speed network that can be expanded as demand increases.  This modular architecture provides a cost-effective and scalable solution into which the latest advancements in personal computer technology can be easily integrated by replacing older PCs with newer ones or by adding more nodes to support more simultaneous video requests.
